REAL WEDDING: Amy & Nilay’s Multicultural Wedding - A Stunning Lakeside Ceremony and Chic Ballroom Reception

The highlight of Amy and Nilay’s multi-cultural destination wedding weekend was a stunning outdoor lakeside ceremony and chic reception that reflected Amy’s love for classic, modern elegance.

As a Michigan wedding planner and event designer, it was a joy to help Amy and Nilay create a wedding day that seamlessly balanced romance and sophistication. The sunny weather, Lake Michigan views, and thoughtful details made this celebration unforgettable.

A Ceremony by the Lake

For their lakeside ceremony at Shadowland Pavilion, we wanted to highlight the view of Lake Michigan. To complement the breathtaking backdrop of the lake, we kept the décor simple yet impactful.

The focal point was a lush floral arch featuring garden roses, hydrangeas, café au lait dahlias, and greenery. This dreamy design by Modern Day Collective framed the couple as they exchanged vows. The aisle was adorned with hand-tied arrangements of hydrangeas and roses, accented by flowing navy ribbons, adding a touch of understated elegance and a nod to the Kate Spade inspired design for the reception.

A Chic Reception at Shadowland Ballroom

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a delightful cocktail hour, complete with rides on the Silver Beach Carousel—a whimsical touch that added a sense of playfulness to the day.

Inside the Shadowland Ballroom, the reception décor continued the Kate Spade-inspired theme with a color palette of navy, white, gold, and pink. Each guest table featured either navy or white linens, gold chargers, and cerise napkins for a pop of color. Square tables were topped with navy and white striped runners, echoing the stripes of Amy’s Hayley Paige gown.

Customized menus doubled as place cards, blending practicality with elegance. Centerpieces varied between modern gold lanterns, romantic floral arrangements, and clusters of candles in elegant holders, creating layers of texture and visual interest.

Show-Stopping Details

The head table was a true centerpiece of the room, dressed in a striking navy and white striped linen and adorned with a linear arrangement of lanterns, candles, and lush florals.

The dessert bar, crafted by pastry chef Mandy Krause from Love & Macarons, featured an array of mini desserts alongside coordinating macaron towers. This sweet display was as visually stunning as it was delicious, perfectly tying together the wedding’s color palette and theme.
