I got to know Lana and Frank last year over several months of planning and design meetings. They chose The Box Factory for the Arts in St. Joseph, MI. It’s a very unique space with tons of possibility, and I was thrilled to do something different and special for these two beautiful people.
Lana expressed a desire for an Audrey Hepburn-inspired celebration, with a twist of modernity reflective of the venue. We chose a bold color palette of dusty rose. black, white, and gold. The black was key to making this palette feel current and dynamic. We brought in lacquered candelabras, and a patterned black and white napkin.
The florals were all white arrangements of French calla lilies, hydrangea, and tulips, accented with tons of candles and glittery manzanita branches, beautifully arranged by Stella Event Design.
With the ceremony, we had to be creative, as it was in the same space as the reception. Aays Rental and I collaborated on a gorgeous fabric backdrop for the ceremony that was then pulled to the side to reveal the dessert display. It was also a fabulous backdrop for photos. Oh, and did we mention the bride twirled her way down the aisle? Who could resist, given that gorgeous dress from Wedding Belles?
Of all the weddings I have designed, this one definitely stands out for it’s uniqueness and old-world charm, which really reflected the style and personality of the couple. Please enjoy the photos beautifully captured by Jennifer Mayo Studios!
