REAL WEDDING: Amy and Nilay Part Two-American Celebration

If you haven’t read the part one of Amy and Nilay’s wedding celebration blog, be sure to check it out here!

The highlight of Amy and Nilay’s wedding weekend was Saturday’s ceremony and reception, and what a day it was! The weather was absolutely perfect for the outdoor ceremony, and everyone was in great spirits after the previous night’s Sangeet.

Amy really wanted a streamlined but romantic feel for the wedding day, and told me she loved everything Kate Spade. We decided to run with that concept, and chose a palette of navy, white, gold, with accents of pink. I wanted to make sure the wedding was not overshadowed by the elaborate Indian celebration, which we accomplished with lots of little details and lush, beautiful florals from Modern Day Floral.

For the ceremony at Shadowland Pavilion, we really wanted to highlight the view of Lake Michigan, and so we kept the decor to a minimum. The focal point of the ceremony was a to-die-for arch, composed of garden roses, hydrangea, cafe au lait dahlias, and greeneries. The aisle was accented with simple, hand-tied arrangements of hydrangea and roses, with flowing navy ribbon.

The reception was held just a short walk from the pavilion at Shadowland Ballroom. Guests enjoyed a strolling cocktail hour and were treated to a ride on the Silver Beach Carousel before being seated for dinner. The guests tables featured navy or white linens, complete a cerise napkin and gold charger. Square tables featured a navy and white striped runner, which played perfectly off the white on white stripe of Amy’s Hayley Paige bridal gown.  Customized menus by Gwyneth Paige Couture Letterpress doubled as place cards. For centerpieces, we created several different styles that featured modern gold lanterns, beautiful, romantic florals, and candles in a variety of elegant holders.

The head table was adorned in a statement navy and white striped linen, and featured a linear arrangement of lanterns, candles, and florals. The dessert bar, created by pastry chef Mandy Krause, showcased a variety of mini desserts and was anchored on either side by macaroon towers, colored to coordinate with the wedding palette.

Working on Amy and Nilay’s celebrations was truly one of the highlights of our 2017 season, and we couldn’t have done it without all the amazing vendors involved! We hope you enjoy these beautiful photos from Justin Hankins Photography!
