It’s always fun to work at a new venue, so we were thrilled when Chiedza and Roderick asked us to plan and design their wedding at Windmill Island Gardens in Holland, MI! The venue is beautiful, and we loved working with this couple and their families!
Chiedza and Roderick described a wedding with a modern design that featured clean lines and bold pops of yellow sunflowers. While I don’t usually think of sunflowers when choosing blooms for a modern aesthetic, I think it worked very well with the venue and helped tie the space in with the couple’s personal style.
The ceremony took place in a picturesque gazebo, which we draped with white fabric and accented with large arrangements of sunflowers. Chiedza looked absolutely stunning as her mother escorted her down the aisle and, having not seen his bride until that moment, Roderick was overcome with emotion. It was my favorite part of the wedding day and certainly one of the most emotional moments of our 2017 wedding season.
Guests then moved to the reception tent-a permanent structure at Windmill Island-for cocktails, dinner and dancing. The tables featured sleek grey linens with clean white napkins and bold yellow centerpieces. Candles added a soft, romantic touch as the sun began to set. As always, Gilmore Catering served a delicious meal and the DJs from Event Revolution kept the dance floor full all night. This crowd loved to dance and partied the night away!
